This week’s post is about a coffee shop I’ve recently discovered in the nooks of east London. Now I love a good coffee shop just the thought of sitting with a good book and a hot cuppa tea or coffee, makes me feel all cosy and warm. But I have to say, out of all the coffee shops I have had the chance to visit so far, this is the coolest of them all.
God’s Own Junkyard is a neon sign heaven, it’s bright, funky, retro and gives off so many good vibes. I stumbled upon this little gem on Instagram a year ago and just couldn’t find the time to visit it. Travelling from north to east can be quite a trek and so I could never find the best time to do it, however, luckily this year I finally found the time and it was worth it!
Now usually when I think of a coffee shop, I tend to imagine something that is small, quiet and just very chill and this was the complete opposite. The bright lights, amazing tunes and just all-round busy atmosphere really showed me another side of what a coffee shop could be like. I know I keep calling it a coffee shop but it’s more than that, God’s Own Junkyard is a photo-op waiting to happen, it’s neon aesthetic is its main attraction and definitely makes it one to look out for.
I’m not going to lie, we didn’t actually get a chance to stay for coffee, in fact after wandering around the small building for about an hour, taking a million and one pictures of the neon signs, the actual coffee shop had become quite busy. So, if you are looking to stop for a drink then I would suggest you do that first before having a look at the signs.
If you do get a chance to wander further into East London, and when I mean further I mean the very end of the Victoria line, then I would definitely recommend a quick stop at this neon sign heaven. And if you do visit, I would love to see your pictures and if you have any London coffee shops recommendations please send them my way.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!
Love Sharuni xx
