10 Tips To Make A Bad Day Brighter

Hey Lovelies, 

I am currently in the middle of completing on of my assignments which is due on Monday (ARGHH!). So, I recently had a chat with Liv Purvis (@livpurvis) and since then I have been thinking a lot about little self-care tips I do when I’m having a bad day and how it makes me feel a little happier. Below I have listed 10 tips that you could try  to help you relax after a stressful day or just for a self-care day.

Tip 1: Candles

There is something so immensely relaxing about sitting in a room with burning candles, and it’s something I try to do when I’m getting work done or just lounging around in the house. Scented or non-scented, a room full of candles is definitely my go-to way of feeling relaxed and one of my favourites is Tubereous by Diptique.

Tip 2: Face Mask 

You can never go with a face mask! The perfect way to get have some R&R and radiant skin, if you’re feeling like having a full-on skincare session then I would definitely recommend ANY Glam Glow mask. 

Tip 3: Mellow Playlist

Here are a few songs that I love to listen to when I want some me time, which are not only AMAZING but just make up the perfect mellow playlist:

Tip 4: Read a Book or Watch Netflix

Whenever I’m having a self-care day, if that’s going out on my own or just relaxing at home, you will always find a book within an arm’s length away from me. There is something freeing about getting lost in a good book and drinking a cuppa (or any other hot beverage). 

Tip 5: Flowers 

FLOWERS MAKE ME HAPPY! Seriously do I need to say anything else.

Tip 6: Pamper Your Body

To quote my friend “I love to exfoliate my body, and lotion with some nice-smelling lotion, then sit in my dressing gown and paint my toenails”. lovely way to unwind in the evening or for one of those slow mornings.

Tip 7: Personal Projects Separate from Work or Academics

Personal projects are a way for you to make the most out of your free time but still feel like you are taking a step back from work or academic stress, if that’s music, art or something else you enjoy doing. Anything that not only brings you joy but also makes you feel productive is a great little self-care kind of day. 

Tip 8: BAKE

Baking is not only therapeutic but something you can do on your own or with other people. My go-to bake is definitely banana cake, but that’s probably because we always have ripe bananas in the house. 

Tip 9: Run a Bath

Grab a bath bomb, play some music, watch something or read. Run yourself a bath and relax!

Tip 10: Spend some quality time with friends and/or family

Self-care days can also be something emotional, sometimes spending time with friends and family can be just as rewarding and relaxing as watching Netflix. Making the most out of your spare time and spending that with your loved ones. 

It’s important for you to take some time out of your week and have a good ole self-care session. I hope these tips were helpful!
